Excursion to Lake Carezza or mountain bike excursions, in the magic of the Dolomites

The original name of the ‘Passo di Costalunga’ (Carezza Pass) is Carezza, which derives from the German dialect term ‘Kar’, meaning ‘bowl’ or ‘shell’ and refers to a hollow between the three rock massifs: the Carezza Pass, which lies 8 kilometres west of Vigo di Fassa, on a wide, meadow-covered saddle surrounded by the slopes of the Latemar group and the foothills of the Catinaccio. The pass offers a wonderful panorama and has an exceptionally sunny position. At the pass, two historic hotels impress with their traditional stone construction and the classic Fassa colours, white-blue and white-brick-red. In summer, there are plenty of outdoor activities on offer: from relaxing hikes to horseback rides, from mountain bike excursions to challenging mountain climbing, or golf on the highest green in Europe with a 9-hole course, where Austrian and English nobility were guests until 1907.

Beyond the pass, a small gem of the Dolomites sparkles: Lake Carezza or Lago di Carezza. A jewel nestled in the forest, reflecting the impressive rocky peaks of the Latemar. In the distance, you can see the elegant silhouette of the Grand Hotel Carezza, the former residence of Princess Sissi, which in the past hosted famous personalities such as Winston Churchill and the writer Agatha Christie.
