Breitenstein

Anyone travelling through Breitenstein immediately senses the charm of the Semmering Railway. Striking viaducts as far as the eye can see, such as the Kalte-Rinne Viaduct or the "Krausel-Klause" Viaduct, below the Pollereswand.
The railway hiking trail, a must among the hiking routes in Lower Austria, leads through the middle of Breitenstein past the Blunzenwirtin inn and the railway station and on towards Klamm, Gloggnitz or Payerbach. The Ghega Museum on the railway hiking trail is also located at the Kalte Rinne. From there, you can watch passing trains and immerse yourself in history.
If you are looking for exercise, there are hiking and mountain bike trails around Breitenstein. After a tour, the Althammerhof or the Speckbacherhütte invite you to linger and enjoy. At the Speckbacherhütte you can also see the largest rhododendron in Europe, which is over 100 years old.
