Enjoy the loveliest time of the year in a familiar atmosphere, that is a holiday here on Lake Attersee.
Between Linz and Salzburg at the northern end of Lake Attersee lies the resort of Seewalchen in the beautiful Salzkammergut lake district area of Austria.
The turquoise-green water of the lake is enticingly closeby and here you will find all you need for an enjoyable holiday.
For sportsmen there is plenty to discover. The bathing beach with heated pool, water slide, diving tower and water skiing or the bathing beach in Litzlberg where one can also have fun with a beach volley ball match with friends.
Well signposted paths and trails in Seewalchen and around Lake Attersee are waiting to be hiked. There is a lot to be discovered. Along the school path one can witness the history of the resort from the time of lake dwellings to the development of Seewalchen and the surrounding area. A lake dwelling pavilion on the promenade also documents this era of history.
It is therefore not surprising that famous artists were attracted to the resort as a summer holiday residence. Gustav Klimt is one of these celebrities, for here he found peace and inspiration to paint his world famous landscape pictures. Take a walk along the promenade which is part of the Gustav Klimt theme path where information of the artist´s life are shown and see the Villa Paulick where he resided.
What is a summer holiday without a Dirndl or national costume? That is what the Tostmann family thought and now for three generations this tradition has been maintained not only in the Tostmann Trachten shop but also in the workshop where this handcraft is practiced.
A varied programme of events is also offered such as evening concerts with the local brass band, summer festivals of local clubs, cabaret, classic and literature.
The central position of Seewalchen on the Attersee is ideal for excursions into the Salzkammergut. Whether you visit the salt mines, the Dachstein ice caves, the Emperor´s town of Bad Ischl or the World Heritage Resort of Hallstatt, all these sights are just 1 – 1 ½ hours drive from Seewalchen.
