Schafisheim

The community of Schafisheim, idyllically situated between Staufberg and Lotten, is nestled between two striking hills - one to the east and one to the west - and is the gateway to the Seetal valley.

Schafisheim was first mentioned in a document more than 900 years ago. The original farming village has developed into an attractive residential community with up-and-coming businesses and an industrial zone on the northern periphery of the village centre.

If you are travelling on the west branch of the Seetal heart loop or anywhere else in the village, you will pass Schafisheim Castle. The small, late Gothic-style castle in the centre of the village is the oldest castle building in the canton of Aargau and was designed from the outset not only as a fortification but also as a residential building. It is still privately owned today and can only be admired from the outside.
