Rantscher Weiher loop

From the parking lot, walk about 5 minutes to the starting point next to the sports field and follow the sign towards the forest gorge. We stay on the path, accompanied by the sound of the wild brook along the gorge forest to the idyllic "Waldschlucht" cafe. It is open on weekends and invites you to take a small break right by the water. Then continue on the gravel path, over a pasture, into a small spruce forest. At the next two intersections, follow the sign with the circular route symbol "15" towards Rantscher Weiher. Listen carefully; here you can often hear the "Kjükjükjü" of the green woodpecker. Arriving at the pond (there are also resting opportunities here), after a short break we continue along the path towards the signs "Parking lot Festplatz" with the circular route symbol. We reach the green hilly landscapes from where, to your left, you can once again admire the pond with a mountain panorama. From there continue towards the forest, where you can already see the next signs. Here you have the option to shorten the route via the gorge path to the parking lot. However, we follow the circular route 15 to the right towards the village center. At the next intersection, we walk over a small meadow and a small stone bridge and head directly to the large old lindens. Shortly afterwards, we reach a bench with a wonderful view of Murnauer Staffelsee. Further up the hill, we pass through the village and follow the circular route signs again. Along the country road, we walk with a direct view of the Hörnle towards the sports field/village center/Festplatz. This leads directly back to the parking lot. For those arriving by train, follow the signs back to the starting point towards the forest gorge into Kirchstraße. From there, it is about a 10-minute walk back to Kohlgrub train station.

Sturdy footwear and a daypack are recommended for this circular route. Hiking poles if needed.
