The route mostly consists of heathlands and primeval forest. In many places, the nature is even completely untouched. The more diverse biotopes of the area are wetlands and groves. Along the river, there are flood forests and meadows. The rich fauna of the area is composed of mammals such as the European beaver, roe deer, white-tailed deer, moose, hare, fox, marten, raccoon dog, and birds like woodpeckers, owls, tits, and thrushes. Especially in wetlands and groves, there is a diverse plant and insect fauna. The European beaver is a rare sight, but encountering it along this route is quite possible. A characteristic feature of the area is the 150-year-old primeval forest, which is visible in itself.
The nature trail follows the fitness track maintained by the city of Pori, which serves as a ski trail in winter. From the parking area, you can access the route by crossing an old railway bridge and walking along the museum railway for about 150 meters, after which you turn right where the path begins. An alternative starting point can be found along Hakamäentie, on the north side of the river.
There are no route markings on the trail, but by following the fitness track you will stay on the route!
