Saar-Hunsrück-Steig - Stage 01: Perl - Hellendorf

We start at the Baroque garden in Perl and continue to the heights above the Moselle valley. There we pass through narrow paths in protected ancient forests. In between, it goes for over two kilometers through the cross-border nature reserve “Hammelsberg” with orchid meadows and splendid views into the Moselle valley.
We can especially enjoy these views on a sensory bench.

Before heading towards Borg, we go down to the Weidof Sehndorf.
After passing under the motorway, we reach the heights between Moselle and Saar, also with wide views. The next kilometers lead on flat terrain, mainly over paths, past several forest ponds through the woods near Borg. In the middle we experience the wonderfully reconstructed Roman villa complex with a Roman tavern.
At km 17.9 we reach the access path to the stage place Hellendorf, 500 m away.

The Saar-Hunsrück-Steig is a route close to nature, which runs 70% over soft forest floor, grassy paths or along streams. However, this special quality can lead to problems after longer rainy periods and make parts of the route difficult to walk. Therefore, sturdy footwear is recommended.
