Rheinabacher-Wald-Runde

The “Himmeroder Hof”, which houses the nature park center and the glass museum, is the ideal starting point for a hike in the Rheinbach forest. Along the old town wall, between the Hexen and Wasemer towers, the tour begins with an insight into Rheinbach's historically significant buildings, some of which date back to the 12th century. Passing the Roman aqueduct, the route leads through the leisure park and Rheinbach's city forest. Surrounded by small natural foothill streams and ponds, the trail runs through a mixed beech-oak forest. Along the edge of the forest in the south-western area of the Rheinbach forest, the circular trail leads past fields and meadows to the “Black Cross”. From there, you follow the old Roman road to the forest chapel. Via the “new pilgrims' path” with the idyllic pilgrims' path ponds, the route leads back towards the urban area.

As this is a circular hiking trail, the start/finish point is freely selectable. By car, you can use the parking lots “Himmeroder Wall” and “Am Freizeitpark” in Rheinbach. By bus to the bus stop “Himmeroder Wall” or “Regerstraße” at the leisure park.
