On the Rosenalm high above Zell am Ziller there is a magical place of fantasy. According to legend, the Spruce Tree Castle was built by the mystical Spruce Sprites and is a very special kind of adventure playground! When the Spruce Sprites grew tired of their building efforts, they longed for rest and refreshment and expanded their habitat around Spruce Lake.

SPRUCE TREE CASTLE

Every childhood is a time of wonder and enchantment. In the Spruce Tree Castle children and their families, together with the little Spruce Sprites, can discover that magic again. A long, long time ago the busy little Spruce Sprites came to the Rosenalm pastures and set to work to create a grand castle and grounds on more than 5,000 m² for the Prince and his wife, who planned to come and live in the mountains.

Even from a distance, you can see the four towers you can climb, made entirely of wood, rising majestically into the sky. Guests, both children and ‘kids at heart’, can now enjoy a world of fun and adventure clambering on the climbing tower, sliding down the tower chute and ‘working’ in the crane tower. The breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains is best enjoyed from the 18 metre-high viewing tower or daring explorers can try out the treetop path, which leads from the slide tower through the adjacent trees. In addition to a wooden marble run, the vast water and sand play area and an adventure playground, budding little builders can carry on the work of the Spruce Sprites in the builders’ hut and crane tower. The hammock forest is not the only comfortable spot for you to rest, relax and unwind.

TIP: You can cook your own barbecue food on our gnome grill in the castle kitchen every day from 11.00 a.m. to approx. 2.00 p.m. You can buy sausages from the local butcher from our barbecue vending machine at the Spruce Tree Castle!

SPRUCE LAKE

Swimming fun at 1,700 m altitude

With the new Spruce Lake, you can now refresh yourself after fun and games in the Spruce Tree Castle by jumping into the cool water – and then carry on playing straight away! A buggy-friendly circular walk connects the Spruce Tree Castle to the new Spruce Lake. A viewing platform offers a panorama of the surrounding mountains, boat hire invites you to row on the lake, and the relaxation nooks and swings are just perfect for relaxing.

Other highlights such as stand-up paddle hire, diving platforms and the Pixie Cove – a shallow water zone for little ones to splash around in – round off the varied offer. Spruce Lake is the perfect place to improve your wood-lake balance!
