The late Gothic mountain church was built by a countess in the 15th century.

In short records it is reported that the countess had to flee because of the Turkish siege and found refuge at the farm vlg. Schuster in the moss found refuge. In gratitude, she had this church built in Hinterburg, dedicated to St. Pancras.

A half moon on the steeple of the Pankrazius church is a sign of the Turkish siege. In 1631 the high altar was built and St. Pankrazius was depicted as a youth. St. Pankrazius did not deny his faith when he was 12 years old during the persecution of Christians, for which he had to pay with his life. He is therefore considered the patron saint of youth.

During excavations, foundations were discovered and so it is assumed that a larger church should have been built. In 1884 a lattice was erected inside the church and so the saint's figures and pictures are protected from theft. In 1964, lightning struck the mountain church and the altar of the Virgin Mary was damaged.

Today the church is gladly visited by guests. Five masses are celebrated every year. Of these, the St. Mark's procession on April 25 is particularly highlighted. It dates back to the 15th century. Also worth mentioning is St. Leonard, celebrated on November 6. St. Pankrazius is celebrated on the 12th of May.

The ecclesiastical care is entrusted to the Messner family. So are the keys of the entire church. A special feature of a somewhat different kind is a bat population that has taken up residence in the church tower. Every 2 years a bat researcher comes to check the approx. 150 bats in the tower. We can only hope that the Pankrazius church will be preserved.
