The “Gottesacker” plateau is one of the most interesting chalk mountain ranges in Europe.

Rain water has eroded the chalk rocks over millions of years, which has led to the formation of many narrow channels and crevices as well as chalk caves which are situated near the plateau.

The “Gottersacker” plateau extends between the “Hoher Ifen” and the “Gottesacker waende”; the area is approximately 9 square km big and consists of wild rugged terrain, which is of special interest to holiday makers with geological and horticultural interests.

The terrain is suitable for all levels of ability and offers walks in wooded areas with panoramic views as well as more challenging hikes.

The holiday maker can take the chair-lift to the Ifen huette (1600 m high); from there he/she can reach the top of the Ifen in approximately two hours. (This is a more challenging path and experience in hiking is required)

The hiking tour across the Gottesackerplateau to the Kürental takes about six hours, and the tour to the Mahdtal takes about seven hours.
The geological features of this unique are well worth the effort.

Taking the chair-lift to the Ifen huette reduces the length of the walk/hike by approximately one hour.

Opening hours of the chair-lift (Ifen)
From the end of June to the beginning of November from 8.15 to 12.00 and 13.15 to 16.30
