A first-class rookie showdown was waiting for all riders and visitors at Snowpark Alta Badia last Saturday, as the Rookie Battle Alta Badia kept what it had promised: finest contest vibes and an action-packed day in the Dolomites. Thus, it was no surprise that rookies from all over the Alps made their way to Alta Badia to show what they’ve got.

New event for rookies

After more than 5 years of waiting, the QParks Tour returned to Snowpark Alta Badia. And as if that wasn’t enough, it was a premiere at the same time. After all, the Rookie Battle Alta Badia was the first ever QParks Tour Stop exclusively for riders under 18. “/We wanted to create a possibility especially for young riders to gain first contest experience. And as you can see, it’s obvious that there’s a great demand for such events,/” explains the organizer the intention behind the event. And yes, the next generation is definitely on the rise: “/The level of the rookies is increasing heavily, and the older, more experienced riders are getting challenged more and more,” he concludes/.

Impressive performance of the contestants

Talking about an increasing level, Dominik Holzinger showed the best snowboarding performance by sending a massive BS 720 Mute over the kicker, that put him in the first position in front of Lukas Behensky and Jascha Nunez. Lukas could also score the first place in the groms category. Kiara Zung won the Womens Snowboard contest in front of Lili Fhot, who was also happy about her first place in the groms category. Kitti Katonka ended up third on the podium.

Nico Fuchs was the best freeskier of the day, since he impressed the judges with a sick back-to-back Cork 7 Safety that got him the highest score. Behind him came Marian Wenger and Valentin Auer. Marian Wenger was also the one who took home the first place in the groms competition. Sarah Schönach took home the first place of the freeski women, followed by Emma Spiss and Greta Staudacher.

Bluebird and finest contest vibes

With these results, it was no surprise that the organizers as well as the participants were more than stoked about the first Rookie Battle Alta Badia. Like the cherry on top, the conditions couldn’t have been any better: bluebird all day long and the finely shaped setup let the rookies shine in front of the impressive Dolomites surrounding the picturesque scenery at Snowpark Alta Badia. All in all, a successful return to/premiere at Snowpark Alta Badia of the QParks Tour.
